Three girls were discovered d*ad at a campsite after disappearing with their father

The terrible narrative has gripped the nation, and the manhunt is far from done.

Three little sisters, Paityn, 9, Evelyn, 8, and Olivia Decker, 5, went missing during a regular visit with their father, Travis.

Days later, they were discovered dead at a Washington campsite, and investigators suspect he is responsible.

Three little sisters, Paityn, 9; Evelyn, 8; and Olivia Decker, 5, were discovered dead in the lonely Rock Island campsite in Wenatchee, some three hours east of Seattle, in a tragic tragedy that has shocked Washington State and garnered global attention.

According to the Wenatchee Police Department, the girls had been visiting the region with their father, which turned into a nightmare because he is now sought in connection with their killings.

The father, Travis Decker, 32, is still at large, and law enforcement has warned the public not to approach him.

Authorities think Decker, a military veteran with significant combat training and major mental health issues, smothered his kids during a brief, court-approved visit.

A mom’s greatest fear.

The children vanished Friday evening after Decker picked them up for a three-hour visitation, a typical exchange that their mother, Whitney, had not first considered concerning.

But as 9:45 p.m. passed without them returning and Decker’s phone went straight to voicemail, fear set in.

“I didn’t think he was dangerous,” Whitney told local station KIRO 7. “His mental health can be hard sometimes, but he loved them.”

However, court documents revealed a more disturbing picture. Decker was diagnosed with borderline personality disorder, apparently did not take his prescribed medication, and refused to sign a parenting plan that included treatment and anger control.

Whitney had previously voiced serious concerns in custody files, stating that the girls had slept in armories, tents, and even Decker’s truck during visits, often alone and surrounded by strangers. In one particularly unsettling incident, their daughter Olivia contacted her screaming, unable to locate her father. Another time, Evelyn returned home with mysterious welts between her legs.

“I’ve bent over backwards to support their relationship,” Whitney stated in court papers. “But I cannot have our girls living in what is essentially a homeless shelter, or worse.”

A gruesome find in the wilderness.

After a weekend of dread and increasingly frantic searches, officials discovered Decker’s truck at 3:45 p.m. Monday near Rock Island Campground.

Police discovered the remains of Paityn, Evelyn, and Olivia near the car, about 75 to 100 yards away.

Each girl wore a plastic sack over her head with zip ties around her wrists. Decker’s truck’s tailgate featured two bloody handprints. Inside, there were unsettling reminders of what should have been a family trip: car seats, blankets, snacks, and Decker’s wallet.

There were also signs of recent camping activity (a tent and cooler nearby), but no sign of Decker himself.

“We will not rest.”

Chelan County officials have charged Decker with three counts of aggravated first-degree murder and first-degree abduction. A court has issued a warrant for his arrest and ordered him jailed without bail.

“We have no specific leads as to where he is,” stated Chelan County Sheriff Mike Morrison in a press conference Tuesday. “We are open to all possibilities.”

The search for Decker has evolved into a multi-agency operation including local law enforcement, the FBI, U.S. Marshals, and Homeland Security. Drones are now exploring the harsh environment of Icicle Road, a famous hiking and climbing destination in the Cascade Mountains.

“Travis, if you’re listening,” Morrison stated directly to the fugitive during the briefing, “this is your chance to turn yourself in. Do the correct thing. Be accountable for your actions. We are not going to relax.”

The community is currently in a state of mourning.

More than 300 people gathered at Wenatchee’s Memorial Park on Tuesday evening for a vigil honoring the three girls. Children blew bubbles into the air while music played quietly in the background. According to the Seattle Times, letters scrawled in marker were affixed on folding tables, with one from a youngster called Grace reading, “I am very sorry. Nobody deserves what has happened to you.

Pastor Mike Wilson prayed for the family, the investigators, and the mother, who has been left with a gaping emptiness where three brilliant lights previously shone.

“These girls were true lights in this world,” according to Whitney’s GoFundMe page. “And it is a darker place without them.”

By Tuesday night, the campaign had surpassed $350,000, with hundreds of messages of love, sadness, and wrath coming in from all around the country.

Still on the run.

Travis Decker, described as 5’8″, 190 pounds, with black hair in a ponytail and brown eyes, was still missing on Wednesday morning. Authorities stated that he does not have a permanent residence and often resides in parks or hotels. He was last spotted in a light-colored shirt and black shorts.

Law enforcement continues to advise the public not to approach him and to contact police immediately if they see him or have any information.

In a society all too familiar with domestic tragedy headlines, the story of Paityn, Evelyn, and Olivia is a chilling reminder of what can happen when warning signs are ignored — and of a mother’s unwavering determination to keep her children safe.

As lights flickered in the Wenatchee dusk, a beautiful voice sounded out: “Fly high, sweet girls.”

This is sad. How could a father harm his own lovely daughters?

It might be difficult to understand how cruel and unfair the world can be. There are no words to express the sadness of a catastrophe like this fully. Rest in peace, beautiful souls. 💔.
