A North Carolina toddler couldn’t contain his excitement on Christmas morning and woke up at 3 am to unwrap all the presents underneath the tree. Scott Reintgen, a dad-of-three, discovered the surprise when his three-year-old son asked for scissors to open a gift he had unwrapped in the middle of the night. The toddler’s enthusiasm led to the unwrapping of every present.
Scott humorously shared the incident on X (formerly known as Twitter) along with a picture of the Christmas tree surrounded by opened presents and torn wrapping paper. The toddler explained that he wanted to open all the presents so no one would be confused about what they had received.

In a later post, Scott shared a video detailing the toddler’s “version of events” and jokingly added, “That’s his story. Also have to add: we’re not mad. He’s a good kid, and it’s a story we’ll tell for the rest of our lives.”
Speaking to NBC News, Scott mentioned that the toddler found his Spider-Man web-shooters and wanted scissors to cut them out. Despite the chaos, the parents were not upset, and Scott remarked, “He will not do it again next year, we hope.”

The family’s Christmas morning turned into a mission to salvage the holiday for the rest of the family. While Scott put the kids back to bed, his wife Katie quickly re-wrapped the gifts with the torn paper so everyone could experience the joy of opening their own presents.
Fellow X users found the festive tale amusing, with one noting it was “peak three-year-old energy” and another expressing empathy for the child when the story is inevitably told at every major event of their life. Scott humorously responded that it was “already written into a wedding speech.”
