Upon witnessing the childbirth, the father abandoned the child…

At times, young couples encounter obstacles when trying to conceive, whether due to compatibility issues or health concerns. When traditional methods prove ineffective, in vitro fertilization (IVF) often becomes the last resort. However, the costly nature of IVF means that not everyone can afford it, leading some couples to incur debts in their pursuit of parenthood. Even then, success is not guaranteed, and the use of donor cells does not always result in conception.

In one such case, a friend of mine, as usual, responded to a call from the maternity ward, assembling an entire team. The expectant mother arrived at the department accompanied by her mother, mother-in-law, and legal husband. This childbirth was her first successful one through IVF, following miscarriages from natural pregnancies.

Their baby was born healthy, save for a defect in the legs—feet turned inward, which could be corrected through surgery. Although the procedure was costly, they managed to secure funds leftover from their IVF treatments. However, upon receiving the diagnosis, the father erupted in anger in the intensive care unit. He adamantly refused to hold the child, labeling it a “monster” and demanding that the doctors take it away. The laboring woman was left in tears, and the stress led to bleeding.

In a devastating turn of events, the grandparents and the father decided to abandon the daughter, leaving the mother utterly heartbroken. She had endured immense torment, only to witness her healthy baby being rejected. Despite attempts to calm him down, the father remained furious and refused to acknowledge the child.

A few days later, the mother of the laboring woman reached out, urging reconsideration. Upon inquiry, it was revealed that the father had quietly initiated divorce proceedings the very next day after the birth.
