America’s Got Talent has featured several noteworthy vocalists throughout the years. And this season’s Jourdan Blue has joined them, earning the second Golden Buzzer for Season 20 of the talent competition.
The 23-year-old from New Orleans works as a street performer, which he describes as both exciting and challenging.
“I go out and sing from 8 p.m. to 2 or 3 a.m., or until the cops kick me off the street,” he explained in a video package. “That is how I provide for my girlfriend and son. Although it’s challenging, I strive to set a positive example for my son. I want to show my son that you should pursue your aspirations. I wasn’t ready when I had him, but he’s shown me that there’s a lot more to life than I knew.”

Jourdan’s mother was a cop and his father was an attorney, which inspired him to become a rebel. When he was 16, he found himself living on his own, going from friend to friend’s house or sleeping in the restrooms where he worked.
“Until my grandfather found out,” Jourdan stated” “He drove out there that night and picked me up, telling me, ‘You stay with me now.'” I have been with him ever since.”
That bond is so strong that Jourdan contacted his Grandpappy John before taking the stage at AGT and gave the phone to presenter Terry Crews so that his grandfather could see his performance. JJourdan addressed his living conditions to the judges Simon Cowell, Mel B, Howie Mandel, and Sofia Vergara, stating that his grandfather is an avid music fan and has served as his inspiration.

“I started street performing in New Orleans because I really wanted to get into it,” he explained, becoming emotional. “As you may recall, there was an assault on New Orleans earlier this year, just on the block where I perform. It reminded me that there is so much more to live for. That is why I chose AGT. “I believe this is the best way to advance.”
Jourdan selected The Script’s “Breakeven” for his audition.
