Jimmy Kimmel provides a health update on his son Billy

Jimmy Kimmel has spoken out over his son Billy’s health.

In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, published Monday, July 8, the 56-year-old Jimmy Kimmel Live! host spoke out about his 7-year-old son William “Billy” John’s recovery after his third open heart surgery in May.

“Billy is doing fine. He underwent open-heart surgery, and he has scars and everything, but he’s basically cognitively right back where he was, which is crazy,” Kimmel said of his kid, who was born with congenital heart disease in 2017.

“Physically, you know, we’re going to have to be careful with him for a couple of months, but he’s doing really well,” the doctor said.

Kimmel spoke up about children’s resilience, saying, “They’re made of rubber; you know, everybody says that kids are so resilient, and the doctors actually explained it to me, which I don’t know why it never occurred to me before because they’re still growing.”

Kimmel, who has Billy and daughter Jane, 9, with wife Molly McNearney, as well as daughter Katie, 32, and son Kevin, 30, with his former wife Gina Maddy, shared a photo in May of Billy smiling in a hospital bed.

He then disclosed in the caption that Billy had successfully completed his third open heart surgery.
