That is something that should be a goal for all of us to help other people, yet for one altruistic employee at a gas station, a good gesture developed into a crowdfunding effort that completely changed the trajectory of his life.

You won’t believe how much money people in South Africa contributed to him after he helped out a stranger by paying for their petrol after he had already helped out the stranger.

When you hear a story like this, it’s impossible not to feel driven to assist those who are in need of assistance.

Nkosikho Mbele was taken aback when a random act of charity resulted in a financial windfall for him of approximately one hundred thousand dollars.

As a woman by the name of Monet van Deventer drew up to the gas station pump in Cape Town, South Africa, the attendant at the Shell station was going about her day as usual.

The next thing you know, he was washing her windows and getting ready to put petrol in her tank, but there was one item that needed to be taken care of first.

Monet was unable to pay for the necessary amount of gas to refill her tank since she had misplaced the money that she had been saving up.

“I thanked him for cleaning my windows, but I had to let him know that I would not be able to fill up the tank with gas today.

He seemed worried and concerned as he stared at my gasoline needle, which was already in the red. He was staring at it.

After that, Nkosikho paid for some gas for Monet with his own debit card, which he pulled out of his wallet and utilized.

Monet was driving on a busy highway when Nkosikho intervened to ensure that she did not run out of gas. Nkosikho is a good-hearted person.

He loaned her one hundred rand worth of gas and instructed her to reimburse him the next time she was in the vicinity of a Shell station.

Monet appeared once more with the one hundred rands and the chocolate box, but that was just the beginning…

Others began giving her contributions as soon as Monet posted the tale to Facebook, where she works as an account manager for a software firm.

As the story spread like wildfire throughout the internet, Monet’s job prompted her to publish the story.

At that time, she sought the guidance of Nkosikho, and the two of them worked together to initiate a crowdsourcing project in which everyone could donate money.

They were both totally incapable of predicting how the circumstance would develop over time.

When Shell heard about what Nkosikho had done, they were so moved by what he had done that they decided to nominate him for the Regional Service Excellence Award.

Nkosikho’s compassion moved people from all over the place, and Shell was one of those companies. It didn’t take long before hundreds of people started contributing money to the cause.

In addition to this, Shell came to the conclusion that he would donate $35,000 to a charitable organization of his choosing.

At the conclusion of the fund-raising campaign, the total amount that had been raised was $94,000, which is equivalent to one employee earning minimum wage for eight full years’ worth of wages.

Nkosikho’s unexpected fortune wasn’t the only thing that changed, though; the town quickly came to recognize him as something of a celebrity.

This was one of the things that changed. It appeared as though his life had been turned upside down all of a sudden, and now people in the town were coming up to him to ask for pictures because he had become a viral star.
