The COVID-19 epidemic had an impact on everyone in some way. And, although we hope those awful days are behind us, the bulk of us will never forget how painful the previous few years have been. Many companies were forced to close, leaving many people out of work and on the streets. And, while we were all thanking medical professionals for their efforts against the virus, residents of a Virginia neighborhood remembered to thank another crucial profession during the epidemic: the UPS driver.
They always made sure to deliver their stuff on time while they remained at home and safeguarded themselves. Workers of the United States Postal Service, FedEx, and UPS helped keep the American economy afloat, yet few recognized their devotion and sacrifice during terrible times for mankind. Anthony Gaskin, a UPS carrier, was on his usual route when he saw something unusual. There were many automobiles parked along the road.

He had no clue what was going on until he saw two kids carrying placards that said, “Hallsley loves you, Anthony.” The rest of the audience applauded and waved, and Anthony understood they’d done it all for him. These folks thought Anthony deserved to be acknowledged for what he did for them throughout the epidemic. “Even though his truck lacks sirens and his uniform provides no additional fire protection, Anthony Gaskins is regarded as a hero in the Hallsley neighborhood,” Patty Friedman told WTVR later in an email.
“Through COVID, Anthony has continued to work, delivering packages at our front doors in record numbers, over 180 times to date.” “I wanted to thank him personally for making me feel so welcome when I moved in during the pandemic,” she continued. “It was awfully lonely, and he was always the high point of my day.” Anthony, understandably, was brought to tears and appreciative of the praise.

“Hundreds of Hallsley residents lined the road, arriving on bikes, on foot, and in more than 75 cars, waiting for Anthony to turn the corner,” Patty told WTVR. “A humble man, he needed coaxing, but he eventually drove his truck down the road while children and adults held signs, screamed his name, honked their horns, and rang bells.” Gaskins’ superiors even came up to present him with a gift.”
We feel that this is a well-deserved tribute to Anthony and his colleagues’ contributions to their communities. The video below has further information.
