After decades of searching, a father and daughter finally meet… You won’t believe it when you see how that happened…

Through the use of the genealogical website MyHeritage.com, Criss Rosenlof was able to locate and get in touch with his daughter Rachael Robertson in the year 2019. He made the remark that “it was a long shot.”

It was a moment that they hoped would come to pass someday, but they were skeptical that it ever would.

Rachael Robertson recalls the morning of August 2019 when she received a message in her inbox that would change the course of her life by saying, “I totally shrieked and tossed my phone across the floor.”

An email that was sent to her via the genealogy website MyHeritage.com informed her that her biological father, whom she had never known, had been found. She had no memory of her biological father.

She relates that when she had collected herself, her husband sat down next to her while she read her father’s email over and over again. “After I had calmed down,” she says, “I read his email over and over again.”

I was only able to react after a couple of hours, but once I did, we immediately started exchanging emails in order to get to know one another.

When Rachael was a newborn, her birth mother gave her up for adoption to a loving family.

When Criss and Rachael were dating, Rachael’s mother became pregnant; nevertheless, neither of them were interested in getting married or committing to a long-term commitment at the time.

In spite of Criss’s assurances that he would do everything in his power to help Rachael’s mother and bring up their child together, Rachael’s mother ultimately decided to relocate closer to her own family.

“She called me a few weeks later to advise me that she had decided to place the child for adoption,” he recalls. “She called me to inform me that she had decided to place the child for adoption.”

Criss says, “When Rachael was born, her mother called to inform me that she had given birth to a daughter and asked if I wanted to meet her.”

“When Rachael was born, her mother called to inform me that she had given birth to a daughter and asked.

“When I questioned her about whether she was still resolved to place the child for adoption, she verified that she was. As a result, I opted not to meet her since I did not believe I would be able to handle seeing her and then giving her up for adoption.”

Criss, who is currently settled down with a wife and is a father to three kids, has never forgotten about the daughter he never got to know. According to him, all during their marriage, his wife has been encouraging him to continue looking for Rachael.

Approximately one year after Rachael had sent in her DNA samples to MyHeritage.com, Criss had done the same thing. When he did so, he did it with some degree of skepticism that it would ultimately lead him to his daughter.

He said, “I took the DNA test thinking it was a long shot.” [Case in point] “There are a variety of organizations that provide DNA testing; what were the odds that my daughter had performed a DNA test, let alone through the same organization that I was utilizing?”

But a few weeks later, he got an email from MyHeritage.com telling him that he had a match in his family tree.

“You can imagine my amazement,” he recalls, “when I received the email with my results approximately three weeks later.” “When I received the email with my results approximately three weeks later, you can imagine my amazement to see a young woman with the connection ‘daughter’ at the top of the list.”

The two eventually met for lunch after corresponding with one another on the platform; Criss freely acknowledges that he was “terrified” about the encounter…,

“Was there a chance that she was going to resent me for adopting her? Was she able to find happiness in her life? Did she have any interest at all in getting to know me?” The argument of Criss. “Rachael turned out to be a caring, loving individual who was significantly more afraid than I was,” the author writes.

Adds Rachael: “I had conflicting feelings of excitement and nervousness. Nevertheless, after we started talking, I realized we had a lot in common! Despite the fact that I was really overwhelmed, talking to him was a lot of fun.

Even back then, Criss recognized my anxiety and allowed me to finish things at my own time, which was quite helpful.”

Since they last saw each other, Criss and Rachael’s families have gotten together, and the two have learned that Rachael’s childhood home was located close to Criss’s. In addition, contrary to all odds, Rachael’s husband had had already met Criss at the Comic-Con convention two years earlier.

The Utah father-daughter duo maintains the belief that chance was responsible for bringing them together.

In her own words, Rachael reveals, “When I began searching for my biological parents, I realized there was a potential that I would uncover someone who didn’t want me in their lives.”

“Due to the fact that it was their choice, I was prepared to accept it. Simply put, I wanted to comprehend the why behind certain aspects of my background.

It is more than I could have dreamed for to find someone who is so kind, wanted me in his life and was actively looking for me, and welcomed both my family and me with such affection.

To meet someone who is so kind, wanted me in his life and was actively looking for me.”

Including Criss in this: “Simply put, I’m overjoyed that I was successful in finding Rachael.

I have never been able to get over the fact that I had to give her up, and throughout the years, I have frequently pondered her whereabouts.

As someone who is aware of the fact that adoption is not always the least loving decision, it fills me with joy that Rachael’s biological mother and I were able to provide a loving daughter for her new family. I could not be happier that she and her family have found their way back into my life.”
