Alexa PenaVega recalls a traumatic event in her family’s life.
On Sunday, April 13, the 36-year-old Spy Kids star reminisced on the “most painful moment” she’s ever had to face: her daughter Indy’s stillbirth. A year after the sad loss, Alexa, who is married to musician Carlos PenaVega, posted a heartbreaking photo on Instagram of herself clutching her late baby in the delivery area.
“This was the most excruciating moment I have ever had. I recall finding it difficult to breathe. This anguish was profound and agonizing. How was this true? It did not feel genuine. “Every emotion rushed in at once,” she said in her heartfelt post. Despite the heartbreaking loss, we had a sense of security and natural tranquility. It was all beyond our control.
“We had to hand everything up to God. The load was too big for us to bear, but He lifted it off of us and wrapped us in His serenity,” she concluded. “Over the last year, we have seen LIFE emerge from her life. We saw folks recover because of Indy. We saw how Indy helped to alleviate sadness. We witnessed connections being healed”. God blessed her life with abundant fruit, meaning, and purpose.”
“Our sweet girl is celebrating with Jesus today,” she said. “While we mourn and wish we could hold her, we know she is waiting for us in a place beyond our imagination.” “Jeremiah 29:11.”
Alexa and Carlos also uploaded a combined Instagram image on Sunday, with their three children holding up a photo of their late sister. “Happy beautiful birthday, Indy princess! 🤍 Our tiny world changer. They captioned the post with Psalm 34:18.
On April 15, 2024, the Sleepover actress and Big Time Rush singer, 35, who are also parents to Rio, 3, Kingston, 5, and Ocean, 8, announced that their daughter was stillborn in a joint statement on Instagram.
“There are seldom the proper things to say while dealing with loss.” After a beautiful and peaceful delivery, our daughter, Indy, was born at rest,” they said. “It’s been a tough trip. But amid agony, we discovered serenity.”
“We don’t understand why things like this happen, and we may never find out,” the pair added. “Indy Rex PenaVega, you absolutely transformed our lives. You transferred us to a new location. You offered us the community we had been looking for. We adore you and can’t wait to see how many more lives you improve.”
The following month, Alexa posted an update on Instagram regarding her loss, stating that she and Carlos were “actually doing really well, considering everything.” The actress said, “It was really incredible to see how God has just moved through our family,” even in hard times. Alexa stated that they “obviously felt a lot of pain,” but they also felt “an insane amount of peace.”
“It might be hard to understand unless you’ve experienced this kind of loss, but I really do hope that you guys can see the crazy peace that we have, even through the pain,” Alexa told me. “And I sincerely hope you can see how much God is at work. And how much fruit has tiny Indy’s existence already produced?”
“And I know it’s only the beginning.” This realization is hard to accept. The days will continue to be difficult. I understand thatthis season will be a rollercoaster of emotions. I am aware of this. But I’m going to continue to let his calm overwhelm us,” she said.
