Brooke Shields says she “fought” against her 17-year-old daughter. Here’s why…

Some parents rejoice when their child follows in their footsteps, but Brooke Shields was less than delighted when her younger daughter expressed an interest in launching her own modeling career.

Shields, who has two children, Rowan Frances Henchy, 20, and Grier Hammond Henchy, 17, with husband Chris Henchy, spoke about Grier’s budding runway modeling career on Thursday’s “Live With Kelly and Mark.” When Grier, who has been “doing little things here and there,” approached her about modeling, the “Blue Lagoon” star was nervous.

“I fought it for so long,” Shields said to Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos. “It’s such a different industry now than it was,” she said, noting that social media did not exist when she was a model.

Shields stated that Grier wishes to work as a runway model. “That’s brutal,” she remarked, “and backstage is just brutal.” “I’ve never done runway. “I don’t think I could have handled it.”

Those are my guidelines. You’re also going to college.”

Shields admitted that having her mother Teri as a manager “probably was how I could survive,” since they were “glued at the hip” and Teri was “such a mama bear” who wouldn’t let anybody get close to Shields.

In the two-part Hulu documentary “Pretty Baby: Brooke Shields” and the associated press tour, the actress previously spoke up about her horrible experiences in the industry, including being sexually attacked by a Hollywood executive, as well as her problematic relationship with Teri. Teri, as Shields described in the documentary, allowed her to pose naked for a Playboy magazine while she was a minor and to appear semi-naked in films such as “Pretty Baby” and “The Blue Lagoon.”

Shields revealed on “The Drew Barrymore Show” in April that she was her mother’s “main focus” and that her mother didn’t date because she was “in love” with Shields.

“Both of us were cut off from our sexuality,” Shields explained to Barrymore. “I planned to remain a virgin. Teri Terrific was going to be
