People have praised Drew Barrymore for her decision to avoid makeup and hair extensions on television. Barrymore conducts her own talk program, The Drew Barrymore program, and frequently has celebrity guests join her to discuss everything and everything. Pamela Anderson joined her this time. The Bay Watch singer has recently become somewhat of a beauty idol, eschewing her customary glitter for a more natural style. She made global news when debuting her makeup-free face at Paris Fashion Week in 2023.

Anderson has subsequently explained why she chose to opt for a more natural appearance instead of cosmetics like foundation and mascara. “That was the beginning of me letting go of the image I had always had of myself,” Anderson explained to Better Homes & Gardens magazine earlier this year.
“What is this cartoon figure I’ve created?” Okay, that was fun. But I am not that person anymore.” On today’s broadcast of The Drew Barrymore Show (October 22), Barrymore followed in Anderson’s footsteps and removed her makeup. Her other guests, Gillian Anderson, Gayle King, and Valerie Bertinelli, also followed suit.

In addition to cosmetics, Barrymore removed her hair extensions and spoke openly about perimenopause and hair loss. In another scene, the Scream actor admitted to feeling self-conscious when she caught a glimpse of herself on the monitor and noticed that she was altering her appearance more than usual. She then asked Gillian Anderson about her feelings about being bare-faced. “I am hiding behind my glasses a little bit,” the Fall actress said. “I often don’t wear makeup when I’m doing my TikTok posts and stuff, but what I am very aware of is the lighting [in the studio].” King echoed similar feelings, saying, “I don’t mind taking pictures of myself without makeup, but it’s different when you’re on national television.”

People praised all the women for not wearing makeup during the presentation. “I think it’s cool that they’re starting to normalize women’s natural beauty,” one user said on Instagram. Another user commented, “They all look absolutely stunning!” More of this, please!”
