Fred Parris penned the song “In the Still of the Night,” which his band Five Satins recorded. Initially a minor hit, “In the Still of the Night” has grown in popularity and now stands as one of the finest doo-woop songs of all time. Numerous musicians have covered it, including Debbie Gibson and Boyz II Men. Numerous movies have also featured it.
Parris composed this treasure in the basement of a local church in 1955. We may view a live clip from the film Sweet Beat in the video below. The song gained popularity after its release on the 1987 “Dirty Dancing” album. In the end, the Rolling Stones ranked the song at number 90 on their 2010 list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time.
