Everyone wonders why my house smells so luxurious. Here’s how I make a “luxury” air freshener for pennies.
My guests are often surprised by the “luxurious” scent in my home. There’s always a fresh aroma of flowers and spices in the air. My friends think it’s because of expensive air fresheners, but in reality, I make them myself using affordable ingredients.
I’ve found the perfect recipe for a homemade air freshener, and I’m happy to share it.
You’ll need coarse sea salt (fine salt won’t give the desired effect). I place the salt in a small container.
Next, I add fabric softener or liquid laundry detergent—the important thing is to choose a scent you like.
After thoroughly mixing, I add either rubbing alcohol or vodka—1 teaspoon of alcohol or 2 teaspoons of vodka.
The final touch is adding 4–5 cloves or a few star anise pods for extra fragrance.
They should slightly stick out from the mixture, so that the moisture can soak into the spices, enhancing the scent.
You can place this air freshener in any room of your home. The effect lasts for about two weeks, and if needed, you can easily refresh it by adding a little more alcohol or fabric softener.
This is also a great gift idea. Beautiful containers filled with homemade air freshener make a lovely and original surprise for friends or family.
I hope you like my idea! Will you give it a try?
