When a friend is in need, you know you have a true friend.
Despite the fact that we’ve heard the proverb quite a few times, we never thought to question whether or not it may also apply to animals.
We have all watched movies about animal friendships, but how many of those stories are actually based on actual events?
An action-packed new video that has gone viral shows a rooster and a goat rushing to the aid of a friend’s chicken who is being harassed by a hawk.
It appeared to be a page torn from some peculiar children’s book.
On September 5, Dutch farmer Jaap Beets was inside his farmhouse in the province of Gelderland when he heard a noise coming from the area of his livestock that was placed outside.
The noise was coming from the direction of the barnyard.
A farmer named Beets, who is 59 years old, was interviewed by SWNS and was cited as stating that he was “extremely proud of the rooster and the goat jumping in to protect our chicken.”
The fact that the chicken was able to make it through the ordeal unscathed came as a tremendous comfort to me as well.
According to the footage from the surveillance camera, the goshawk performed a dive attack on the chicken, sending feather plumes soaring into the air.
Almost instantly, one of the roosters that lived on the farm dashed to the aid of the tiny chick and fought to defend his fellow feathered companion in the process.
Bruin, Beets’ goat, joined in the dispute as well by assaulting the hawk in an effort to scare it away. Bruin was a participant in the conflict.
It has come to light that goats, which have a hip reputation for being talented artists and practicing yoga, are in reality badass vigilantes when their capabilities are tested to the breaking point.
In the end, the dynamic team was successful in rescuing the chicken, and the hawk was forced to take flight without its target just seventeen seconds after it had initially attacked.
The chicken had only sustained relatively minor wounds, but according to Beets, the other animals on the farm “rallied around her” to ensure that she received the best possible care in order to make the quickest possible recovery to full health.
Unfortunately, this was not the first time that farmer Beets has been involved in a scenario of this kind; on two other times, his other goats and turkeys have stepped in to aid his hens.
In this particular instance, however, this was the first time that farmer Beets was directly involved.
According to SWNS, the video that Beets uploaded to social media and highlighted the heroic efforts of the rescue squad has been viewed more than half a million times across a variety of platforms.
Some individuals had the impression that it was a traditional “Disney adventure.”
