Gavin and Stacey provide the first-ever glimpse at the notorious ‘fishing trip’ in the ‘never-before-seen film’

Despite being informed that the specifics of the controversial ‘fishing expedition’ would remain unknown, Gavin and Stacey’s fans finally got a glimpse of what it looked like yesterday night (1 January).

Over the years, we’ve speculated endlessly about what happened during Bryn’s (Rob Brydon) and Jason’s (Robert Wilfort) notorious outing.

We’ve received bits of information, but we’ve mostly made our own decisions.

An untimely smoke alarm interrupted Dave Coaches’ (Steffan Rhodri) admission, which many fans had expected to reveal all.

The episode described it as cold, the tent up, the sun setting, the fire burning, and the billy can boiling soup.

However, the Gavin and Stacey group revealed that the recurring joke has always been that you don’t know what occurred.

Wilfort commented, “It’s funnier that way.”

However, viewers of Gavin & Stacey: A Fond Farewell received one more gift on Friday night.

The documentary special reflected on the remarkable journey of the BBC program and its characters, while also providing viewers with a behind-the-scenes look at the actors recording the conclusion.

The hour-long broadcast also featured actors Minnie Driver, Richard Curtis, and Lena Dunham, who discussed why they enjoy the show so much.

It was an intense 60 minutes, but the show’s ending credits have really gotten people talking.

They mixed in grainy camcorder video of Bryn and Jason getting ready for their fishing expedition.

Uncle Bryn approaches Jason with the camera and asks, “Who do we have here?” as he clings to his pole at the side of a river, beaming with joy.

The two then proudly display their haul, with Bryn instructing his nephew to ‘hold it up’.

He immediately joins Jason in the camera view, clutching the fish, and proclaims, “No one will go hungry in this camp tonight!”

In the final picture, before the video fades to dark, Jason can be seen sitting around the fire that Dave Coaches mentioned, with Bryn saying, “Enjoy your soup!”

The inclusion of the scene stunned viewers, who expressed their amazement on social media.

One wrote, “Oh my Christ! After Gavin and Stacey’s farewell, we received a surprise Easter egg!

A different review commented: “Fantastic documentary and, wonderfully, rounding off with that fishing trip home video snippet—absolute pure class.”

A third person commented, “Teasing the fishing trip in the end credits was f*cking class.”

I hope we all have a sense of closure now.
