Whether they are depicted on the big screen, in the pages of a love tale, or online, where we may all become captivated with the newest celebrity couples, the protagonists of love stories are typically portrayed as being young and gorgeous.
But if there was one old couple in particular that served as motivation for a woman, it was the one that she observed, because she wanted to show the true meaning of love and passion.
Emily Hime reflected on the final few months of her grandmother’s life, which she described as “heartbreaking” but also as a period during which she was “fortunate to experience something wonderful.”
This “something wonderful” was the unconditional love that existed between her grandparents. Emily Hime was fortunate enough to witness this love firsthand.
Emily revealed that her family used to make fun of her grandfather by teasing him that he would never make it without her grandma because she took care of everything for him.
Emily’s grandmother was the primary caregiver for Emily’s grandfather.
On the other hand, when grandma was in her latter months of life, he was the one who was taking care of her instead of the other way around.
“After taking everything into consideration, I came to the realization that the love story of Romeo and Juliet is not the most romantic one…
Instead, Granny and Grandpa spent all those years of their lives growing older together.

As grandma was going through the most difficult period of her life, grandpa was by her side every step of the way to offer support and comfort.
He became her primary caregiver and learned how to prepare meals, do her laundry, and cook for her during the six rounds of chemotherapy that she underwent.
“It was grandfather holding her hand, going to every doctor appointment, and not leaving the house unless someone else took his place because he didn’t want her sitting alone, even for a few minutes,” she explained. “He didn’t want her sitting alone, even for a few minutes.”
Emily mentioned that the personnel at the hospital frequently remarked on how much they enjoyed seeing the two of them spend time together and how devoted he was to her.
He never left his wife’s side, not even for a moment, whether she was in the hospital or later in hospice care after she was released.
He made the most of the time that they still had together by kissing her on the forehead and holding her hand whenever he could find the chance to do so.
The loving granddaughter was able to observe her grandfather’s eyes welling up with tears anytime he had the thought that his wife was unhappy or in pain. She was very loyal.
In spite of the fact that she had suffered multiple strokes and was progressively losing her physical strength, he never stopped complimenting his wife on how wonderful she was on a daily basis.

“They had the kind of love that endures to the end of time, the kind of love that is the pinnacle of achievement for all of us.
Emily wrote in her post that even after being married for so long, it just would not have been enough.
In the next month, they will have been married for 60 years, but even after so long, it just would not have been enough.
“Oh you’re so precious, goodnight my honey,” were the final words that he said to her before he passed away.
