Hunky Dad sings the emotional “To Love Somebody,” then Simon jumps up to slam the buzzer

This season’s America’s Got Talent competition is heating up.

Michael Ketterer is a pediatric mental health nurse who aspires to be a musician. Michael attributed his decision to audition for America’s Got Talent to his wife and six children.

“You know, one of the things that happen, especially since my children came out of foster care, is that you can’t dream when you’re surviving.” One of the most enjoyable aspects has been giving them a home and a safe atmosphere in which they are free to dream.

So I’m here to teach them that if their father can live out his ambitions, nothing is impossible.”

Michael chose to perform “To Love Somebody” by the Bee Gees for his audition. After hearing his background, it’s clear that this song was written in honor of his family.

All of the judges gave him a standing ovation and tremendous praise for his heartfelt audition. But the highest praise came from the most difficult judge, Simon Cowell.

“You know what, Michael, when we find singers on these shows, is it about being technical or relevant? Sometimes for me, it’s just about being real.”

And, if I’m being really honest, I was worried about you since you were so scared. But, in my opinion, deeds speak louder than words.”

After Simon finished complimenting Michael, he stood up and smacked the Golden Buzzer.

America’s Got Talent uploaded Michael’s Golden Buzzer-worthy audition on Facebook, and the video received 11 million views, 185,000 likes, 230,000 shares, and over 11,000 comments in less than 24 hours.

One Facebook user believes the tournament should be terminated because Michael should be declared the winner:

You may just call it quits for the season right now. Here’s your lucky winner. Also, if we all had half the heart this gentleman has, the world would be a much better place. He’s the standard we should all strive for!

Another Facebook user knows Michael since their children attend the same school.

His little son in the wheelchair attends my daughter’s school. It’s a school for all special needs children, and he’s played there many times for various activities. He’s incredible!! I’m overjoyed for them!

America’s Got Talent premieres on NBC on Tuesday, followed immediately by World of Dance.
