Katie Piper gives a final health update following years of eye struggles

Katie Piper has provided a health update to her followers following a lengthy fight.

The Loose Women panelist and model has been honest about her health struggles throughout the years.

Katie, who has been an advocate and campaigner since her devastating attack in 2008 by her former lover and an accomplice, is no stranger to medical procedures.

She was just 24 years old when her 47-year-old ex, Daniel Lynch, began plotting against her, aiming to ruin her beauty with acid.

In March of that year, he enlisted the assistance of Stefan Sylvestre, who had fled the country to avoid imprisonment, and doused Katie with acid in broad daylight on the street.

Since then, she has undergone 400 procedures to recover from the damage she sustained.

But if you’ve been following her trip, you’ll notice that one of her eyes has been bothering her for some time.

Lynch was unable to take away her beauty, as she is both beautiful on the inside and out. However, he did cause her bodily suffering as part of his premeditated plot, and her struggle continues to this day.

Katie gave her most recent update yesterday (Friday, December 10), revealing that she will have another operation to safeguard her left eye with a prosthetic eye shell.

She commented on social media: “After many years of battling with my eye health, I’ve reached a point where I’ve decided to try a prosthetic eye shell.”

“This is the beginning of my quest to get an artificial eye, and I have a fantastic medical team behind me. As usual, I am deeply thankful to everyone in the NHS and private healthcare systems for their expertise and generosity.”

The female model continued: “I will share my journey. I’m hopeful and nervous about being able to tolerate it and would love to hear from any of you in the comments if you’ve been on this journey or have any advice…”

Her post includes a photo of herself during the procedure and a video of her doctor placing the replacement eye.

Followers reacted to her honest message, wishing her well and praising her continuous strength.

A user left a message: “You’re very brave, Katie. I’ve been following your journey since your first documentary, and I always get so excited every time I hear you’re doing something new or featuring something new. You’re very brave. Be kind to yourself.”.

“Oh yeah, you’ve inspired me for years, and you continue to inspire,” said another. You got this.”

Fans will recall that at the end of 2023, the presenter revealed that her recovery from a prior eye operation was not going well, as she stated in an Instagram video: “I’ve spent the morning again at the eye clinic since I’ve experienced troubles with my eye.”

“I’ve got a defect and an infection that is becoming really hard to treat.”

Hopefully, after the prosthesis is done, she will be able to continue without too much trouble from her eye.
