Barack Obama has made a stunning marriage disclosure about his relationship with Michelle Obama.
The Obamas married in 1992, and the couple moved into the White House in 2009, where they remained until Obama’s presidency ended in 2017.
The ex-president has said that his long government career strained his marriage to the ex-first lady, and rumors of divorce have circulated online for years.
Obama, the 44th president, spoke at Hamilton College in Clinton, New York, on Thursday (April 4) about various issues, including his thoughts on Donald Trump’s tariffs.
The 63-year-old stated that he was finalizing the second part of his presidential memoirs and utilized the opportunity to speak out about America’s gun regulations.
According to the Daily Beast, Obama even discussed his marriage to Michelle when conversing with College President Steven Tepper.
“I was in a deep deficit with my wife,” the former president said. “So I have been trying to dig myself out of that hole by doing occasionally fun things.”
Michelle is not hesitant to discuss the couple’s marriage, and she has already described one bothersome aspect of her spouse that she has had to learn to live with over the years.
Speaking on her podcast, IMO, Michelle stated that her spouse struggled with this one issue throughout their relationship.
She exclaimed, “Barack, you know, he had to adjust to what ‘on time’ was for me.”
She joked about his Hawaiian background, saying, “Because he was on that island time.”
Michelle went on to say that Obama would start getting dressed about the time they were supposed to leave.
“You know, I’ve got this husband who’s like, when it’s time to leave, it’s 3; he’s getting up and going to the bathroom,” said the former president’s wife.
“And I was like, man, dude, a 3 o’clock departure implies you’ve done everything, you know? It’s like, Don’t start hunting for your spectacles at the 3 p.m. departure.”
Obama’s timeliness appears to have improved with time, according to Michelle.
Michelle confessed that the former president’s time management has improved for their 30-year marriage, noting that their two kids, Malia and Sasha, are taught to come early if they are doing anything with her.
Obama appears to have struggled with time management throughout his time in the White House, with the Washington Post disclosing in 2014 that he was more than 35 hours late for scheduled events.
