Head judge Simon Cowell declared that the judging panel was creating history during an audition on the most recent edition of Britain’s Got Talent. An act before the contest’s semi-finals startled them, prompting the announcement.
Tonight’s edition of the ITV program began with the four judges sitting for photographs together on the red carpet outside the Winter Gardens in Blackpool, ahead of more auditions. They were astonished when individuals in the audience started singing before they entered the venue.
The Pop Voices Choir sang the song “Mr. Blue Sky” by the Electric Light Orchestra. Around 300 individuals, according to the choir, auditioned for BGT and advanced to the next stage.
Simon, along with other judges Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon, and Bruno Tonioli, was astonished when the choir sang for them outside the venue. Ant McPartlin and Dec Donnelly watched from the sidelines.
After the performance, Dec teased, “I’ve always wanted to do this—let’s take a vote!” The four judges unanimously agreed that the choir would advance to the next stage of the competition before the two hosts cast their votes.
Bruno said, “I think it’s a yes” after offering his feedback. Alesha informed the group, “It’s a massive yes from me.” Amanda said as she conveyed her decision, “Definitely yes from me.” Simon later said he agreed with them.
Simon encouraged Ant to join the judges and Dec, who were standing together, saying, “Come on, Ant!” We have never done this before. Let us start with the first. Come on! We’ve never granted more than four yeses on Got Talent before.”
Ant thought it was a “good point” before Simon went on: “So, you’ve got one, two, three, four [from the regular judges, including myself].” Moments later, hosts Ant and Dec, who aren’t normally on the judging panel but receive a shared golden buzzer, expressed their thoughts on the act.
Ant responded, “Yes, from me.” Dec paused and intimated that he disagreed with his co-host before continuing, “I’m only joking, of course—you’ve got six yeses!” He said, “Congratulations. Now let’s head inside and begin the performance.”
The votes came after Ant approached one of the choir members, who provided insight into the group as the judges shared their thoughts on the performance. It was said that the choir is open to everyone who “loves to sing.”
The member explained, “We are the Pop Voices Choir, and we are open to everyone who enjoys singing. We are an inclusive choir. I want to inspire people all across the world, and winning would be fantastic.” When asked how many individuals were in the choir, they replied, “Nearly 300.”
Simon claimed after the performance outside the auditorium, “I swear to God, I hadn’t got a clue.” Amanda commented, “It was a huge surprise.” I was in tears as you all started singing. It was just beautiful.”
Their coworker Alesha said, “What a delightful surprise—a colorful, joyous explosion of pleasure.” Well done.” Bruno agreed with her and told the gathering, “Absolutely. You make me feel heated although it is chilly outside. Unbelievable.”
