It’s possible that Prince Louis picked up his father’s dancing skills!
On June 21, the Prince of Wales celebrated his 42nd birthday by going to see Taylor Swift perform in London with his kids, Prince George and Princess Charlotte. Fans captured a video of William having fun, bopping to the music and extending his arms during the song “Shake It Off.”
Soon after, admirers began drawing parallels between Prince Louis’ dance routines and those from Queen Elizabeth’s historic 70-year reign at the June 2022 Platinum Jubilee celebrations. A social media video juxtaposed the two events, with Prince Louis swinging his hips during the Platinum Jubilee Pageant and Prince William dancing at the Swift concert.
At the Platinum Jubilee celebrations, six-year-old Prince Louis stole the show with his lively facial expressions, exuberant waving, and interactions with older brothers. Prince William and Princess Kate couldn’t help but compliment their child for his endearing actions. “We all had an incredible time, especially Louis,” the royal couple wrote in a social media post to cap off the Platinum Jubilee festivities.
The youngest child of the Prince and Princess of Wales recently showed off his dancing skills once more at Trooping the Colour on June 15. He danced to the band’s song, swaying his hips from side to side, until Princess Charlotte, his older sister, emerged and told him to “stop.”
Prince William’s display of his dancing prowess is not the first instance of his open moments at Swift concerts.
Representing Queen Elizabeth on a journey to the South Pacific, he and Kate Middleton enjoyed the local flavors and customs, such as Polynesian-style grass skirts and floral headdresses, on their last day of a 2012 tour of Southeast Asia in Tuvalu. At the Vaiku Falekaupule ceremony, the couple started dancing, with Prince William swaying as he attempted to mimic the dancers’ hand gestures.
During their visit to Belize in 2022, the Prince and Princess of Wales once again took to the dance floor, immersing themselves in Garifuna culture by dancing the native “punta.”
“They are an amazing couple, and we would love them to come any time with their children Charlotte, George, and Louis,” Laura Cacho, who assisted in hosting the visit, said to people at the time. They are skilled dancers. They assimilated my culture without needing my instruction. They excel at it greatly. They were really good.”
Prince William has taken to the microphone not only to dance but also to sing, and Swift is the one who is singing! In 2013, during a charity event at Kensington Palace, the pop star accompanied the monarch to the stage, where they both performed “Livin’ on a Prayer” alongside Jon Bon Jovi.
Later, Prince William reminisced in the Time to Walk series on Apple Fitness+, “I thought, ‘That’s it,’ when I sat down to hear Jon Bon Jovi play. My work is over. I’m going to get some dinner in a moment, and I might be able to talk to some people now that I’m a little bit off duty. I had no idea what was going to happen after that. Sitting next to me is Taylor Swift. To my left is where she is. There’s a lull after Jon performs his first song, and she turns to face me. Placing a hand on my arm, she stares straight at me and says, “Come on, William.” Come on, let’s sing.”
The prince added, “I still don’t know what came over me to this day.” To be honest, I still cringe at what happened next, and I don’t know why I caved in.
