A snapshot uploaded in June 2020 on the Polizia di Stato—Italian National Police—Instagram account depicted a touching interaction between cops and a retiree.

An 87-year-old woman in Florence allegedly phoned them because she was hungry and felt alone.

According to reports, she was left alone when the caretaker her son had hired failed to arrive that day.

Two law enforcement officers, working hard at providing justice, keeping the peace, and making the country a safer place, try to talk down a man in his home holding a baseball bat. The perpetrator is silhouetted by the door. A depiction of a high stress violent situation for a policeman or policewoman.

To avoid burdening her son amid the economic crisis, she instructed him not to spend money to see her. But after a few hours, she still hadn’t eaten and couldn’t cook for herself, so she phoned 113 for assistance.

“I’m tired and hungry, but I can’t cook because my arm hurts,” she stated.

Shortly after the call, cops Antonio and Giuseppe arrived and prepared dinner for her, which was photographed and shared online.
