The 88-year-old grandfather, whose lifelong aim has been to complete college, graduates with his 23-year-old granddaughter…

Anybody finds graduation to be a momentous occasion. But it’s fairly amazing to witness an 88-year-old grandfather and his 23-year-old granddaughter both receiving degrees from colleges.

Realizing your dreams is never too late. Since the 1950s, this elderly guy has been attempting to complete his education. It has been one of his life’s objectives and dreams, yet he has gone in and out of schools.

Rene Neira, on the other hand, chose a different route, fell in love, got married, and had a family. He was unable to carry on with his studies any longer. The grandfather and granddaughter pair enrolled in classes at the University of Texas-San Antonio in 2017.

Melanie Salazar, Renee’s granddaughter and a classmate, reminisces, “There were times when we would have lunch altogether, be in the library together, and just work quietly side by side.”

Last month was their graduation. With Melanie being propelled by her grandfather’s wheelchair, they entered the stage together. He received a diploma in communications, while Renee received an honors diploma in economics.
