Stacey Leadbetter, a Britain’s Got Talent competitor, got a Golden Buzzer from KSI on Saturday’s episode despite having to retrain her voice owing to a stutter.
After her rendition of Leona Lewis’ hit Run, the 31-year-old YouTube sensation chose to advance singing supermarket clerk Stacey Leadbetter to the semi-finals. Following her performance, fellow judge Amanda Holden, 54, described her as fantastic as the large Blackpool audience screamed, ‘Push the buzzer!’.
Stacey had only performed once before joining Britain’s Got Talent, and she had to retrain her voice due to a speech impairment. She said, ‘It’s incredibly difficult. I have a video of me singing from four or five years ago that you couldn’t comprehend owing to severe speech problems. So during lockdown, I used to watch adult speech therapy sessions on YouTube and then incorporate that into my singing.
‘If I don’t perform specific workouts for a few weeks at a period, I’ll start to revert back to how I was,’ she says.
