Loni Love is mourning the loss of her mother, Frances.
On Thursday, August 8, the former host of The Real confirmed Frances’ passing via a touching Instagram post.
“Momma Love died quietly yesterday. “She lived her life by her own rules, which inspired me to do the same,” she said with a photo of herself kissing her mother on the cheek.
“I found peace in going through her belongings and seeing the life she created for herself…””I celebrate her life and will remember the good times forever!!!” she said. “I love you, Momma!!! At this time, my family and I politely ask for prayers and solitude to grieve. #RIP”
The comedian’s famous pals expressed their sorrow in the comments section.
Kelly Rowland tweeted, “Sending you big hugs and prayers,” and Eboni K. Williams commented, “So much love and light to you, Loni 🙏🏾❤️✨.”
Karen Derrico said, “We are sending you our sympathies and keeping you in our thoughts! ❤️❤️”
On an episode of The Real in 2015, Love paid an emotional homage to Frances in celebration of Mother’s Day, recalling her poor origins in Detroit’s Brewster-Douglas Housing Projects.
“I was born in the Brewster projects to a single mother.” We never had much money, but Mom did her best,” Love explained, breaking down in tears. “Mama, I understand what you did for me. “I love you very much—very, very much.”
“And we didn’t know how to read very well, and my mother didn’t have much money, but my mother did make me join a book club, and every month, I would get a book, and this book right here taught me how to read,” she added, holding a copy of Dr. Seuss’ Oh, the Places You’ll Go.
“That is all I can say. You’re gorgeous. I love you very much and will see you soon,” she said. “So I just want to thank her and Dr. Seuss.”
