When did you last hear or read a love story that seemed like it was taken directly from a fairytale?

A narrative that not only moved you to shed some tears but also enlightened you regarding the nature of genuine love.

This married couple continued to show love and kindness to one another after they had been together for such a significant amount of time and had been married.

They had such a strong and unadulterated love for one another that not even death was able to tear them apart from one another.

Everyone has the same goal in mind, which is to spend their elderly years with the person who has been their most reliable companion and closest friend throughout their entire life.

You get up, brew some coffee, and start a conversation about anything while you take in the gorgeous scenery that is all around your off-grid house.

To put it simply, spending the day with your significant other, best buddy, or second half.

You and your husband have a quiet meal together, watch a movie, and then say goodnight with a kiss before retiring for the evening.

Getting older, living a simple life, and spending time with the person who brings out the best in you both individually and collectively.

When Herbert DeLaigle, age 94, and Marilyn Frances DeLaigle, age 88, who had been married for 71 arduous but glorious years, both passed away on the same day in 2019, their tale went viral.

Herbert and Marilyn had been married for 71 long years.

Seventy years is a long time, but for Marilyn and Herbert, every day of their marriage was filled with love, beauty, and laughter.

While their marriage lasted for seventy years, it felt like it was just yesterday. Perhaps this was the reason why, even after they had both passed away, they could not bear to be apart from one another.

Herbert, sadly, passed away around 2:20 in the morning. Around 2:20 in the afternoon on that same day, Marilyn passed away.

Their narrative gave off the impression that it belonged in a book of some sort.

It was at the White Way Cafe in Waynesboro that Herbert and Marilyn had their first encounter, which led to the beginning of their affair.

When they first met, Frances was only 16 years old, and Herbert, who was absolutely stunning for his age, was 22.

“I had my eyes set on her as I kept watching her walking in and out, in and out,” Herbert DeLaigle said in an interview.

“And then I eventually worked up the courage to ask her if she’d go out with me someday,” Herbert DeLaigle said. “I had my eyes set on her as I kept watching her walking in and out, in and out.”

Marilyn eventually caved in to Herbert’s insistence and said yes when he asked her out on a date. The relationship between the two of them did not last long.

After spending the previous year with Marilyn as his girlfriend, Herbert became certain that she was the one for him. He didn’t waste any time and immediately made his proposal to her.

Even if Marilyn had accepted Herbert’s proposal and said yes to marrying him, there was still a high chance that the wedding would have been delayed because of Herbert’s propensity for being late.

Herbert even said that on the day of their wedding, when they were running about an hour late, the priest was prepared to call off the service because he was about to cancel it.

Herbert was the type of person who was always up for a good joke.

Marilyn admired him for a number of reasons, one of which being the fact that he made sure everyone had a good time and kept the mood upbeat with his jokes.

When asked what the secret was to a happy and successful marriage, they simply responded: “Communication.”

This is the advise that the pair gave to the other: “Show each other how much you love each other and always be there for each other.”

They have a total of six children between them. In addition, they are blessed with a total of sixteen grandchildren, followed by a total of 25 great-grandchildren, and lastly three great-great-grandchildren.

It is not difficult to deduce the depth of their affection for one another. The way in which they gaze at one another, the comfort with which they take hold of one another’s hand, and of course, the breathtaking kiss that they had with one another are all noteworthy.
