In 2018, as part of Britain’s Got Talent series 12, a pair of quick changes stunned the judges and audience with their performance. Ellie J. Park (29) and Jeki Yoo (34) traveled from their homes in South Korea to be on the show. Believing the show was “loved by people all over the world,” they were thrilled to appear.
Simon Cowell jokingly wondered if it meant they had traveled halfway across the world to see him. This could have been a chance for them to gain Cowell’s favor. Ellie, conversely, declared with a smile that they held great admiration for Cowell’s co-judge, David Walliams. To further aggravate Cowell’s feelings, Walliams rose to his feet and gestured to the delighted audience. Ellie and Jeki then stepped off stage to prepare for their spectacular performance.
The first music played was the Inspector Gadget theme tune. Dressed as the imaginary detective, Jeki made a show of ensnaring Ellie in a large net. The net was drawn over her, and in less than a second, her fur coat and cap were replaced by a black dress. Cowell, clearly impressed, raised his eyebrows. They then changed outfits repeatedly at breakneck speed while disguised by smoke, a curtain, and umbrellas.
The judges all jumped up to acclaim their performance, which included tunes such as the Bond theme and “Singing in the Rain.” Cowell was the last to get to his feet, seeming stunned by the incredible rapidity of their movements. Unsurprisingly, the two made it through the audition. They then advanced to the semi-finals, where they performed a wedding-themed performance that began with Wham’s “Wake Me Up Before You Go.”
