Reality television competitions are the latest technique for budding artists to get recognized. You audition not only in front of the judges but also in front of millions of home viewers. Although it might be nerve-racking, you can be well on your road to fame if you manage to wow.
When Bethzienna Williams arrived on “The Voice: UK” in 2019, she had no idea that her journey to success would include a duet with Tom Jones for “Cry to Me.”
On the popular show “The Voice UK: Blind Auditions,” candidates perform in front of a panel of judges that includes Will.I.am, Jennifer Hudson, Sir Tom Jones, and Olly Murs. These judges choose who advances to the next round of competition. They also get to enjoy the experience with the participants.
Bethzienna Williams, a singer and actress, appeared on one edition of the show and sang alongside the renowned Tom Jones. Jones, well known for tunes like “What’s New Pussycat” and “She’s a Lady,” is an industry icon.
Jones started the conversation by asking Williams if she was familiar with Solomon Burke’s song “Cry to Me.” Williams stated she became a fan of the song since it appeared in “Dirty Dancing,” one of her favorite movies.
The judges then encouraged Jones to join Williams on stage and sing the song with her.
Surprisingly, Jones accepted the proposal. Williams was visibly ecstatic and sang along with Jones. His unexpected performance delighted the whole crowd, and you can now watch it as well.
