On Monday, HGTV’s famous show “Celebrity IOU” returned with another A-list celebrity: Heidi Klum.
The supermodel and “America’s Got Talent” judge collaborated with Property Brothers to surprise her housekeeper Lucia with a home remodel.
Lucia has worked for Klum for 17 years, not only cleaning her home but also cooking for her family and caring for her children, as they revealed in the episode.

“She’s become a member of our family.” “She’s someone in my house I can’t live without,” Klum remarked of Lucia, adding that she’s always been there for her.
Klum also said on the episode that Lucia had planned to rebuild her home a few years ago, but her mother contracted COVID and was unwell for a long time before dying. Her mother’s medical expenditures depleted the funds Lucia and her husband had set aside for renovations, which fueled Klum’s desire to repair her home with the assistance of Drew and Jonathan Scott.
“She’s always had my back, and it’s nice to know that now I can have hers as well,” Klum remarked.
Klum and the Property Brothers had only three weeks to finish the remodeling because Lucia was visiting family at the time.

Because Lucia lives with her daughter Lorena, as well as Lorena’s husband and their children, Klum and the Scotts wanted to place the family at the core of their design.
The three wanted the house to seem open and airy following the remodeling. The house had dark flooring before they renovated anything, and the kitchen was blocked off from the rest of the living room, making it all feel smaller.
The refrigerator was also a step down from the rest of the kitchen, producing a disconnected area that Lucia didn’t like.
Klum and the Property Brothers transformed the area into an open-concept arrangement by eliminating the wall that divided the kitchen and increasing space so that all of the appliances could be found in one room.

They also replaced the dark floors with lighter wood finishes and colorful cabinetry to make the home feel “happier,” as Klum put it.
Klum was involved in the remodeling process from start to finish, helping to install both tile and wood floors throughout the house and even climbing onto Lucia’s roof to apply new shingles.
Klum was particularly uncomfortable with the roof’s construction.
“I’ve never been on top of a building. “I’ve never done any roof shingling in my life,” Klum explained. “I’m afraid of heights, but I’m always up for a challenge.”

As Klum said on the broadcast, the experience was rewarding for her.
“I have to tell you, it feels incredible to put a safe roof over her and her family’s heads,” Klum said to the Scotts while remaining on Lucia’s roof.
“She does so much for me and my family, so to be able to do that for her with my own hands feels great,” she explained in an interview with “Celebrity IOU” producers.

Lucia was overjoyed when the remodeling was finally revealed.
“It’s beautiful,” she added, expressing surprise at how much things had changed. “This isn’t my home.” This is a different home.”
