On Ireland’s Got Talent, a mother-son singing duet moved everyone in the audience. Sharon and her son Brandon approached the stage to audition for the show, performing Calum Scott’s “You Are the Reason.”
As the two entered the stage, judge Denise van Outen inquired whether their music choice had any special significance to them. Brandon, 19, stared at his mother and began blinking back tears, prompting Sharon to provide an emotional explanation.
Sharon sat by Brandon’s bed, holding his hand while talking and singing to him. She begged him, “Come on, Bud, come back to me.” And he awoke. “It was just not his time.” Doctors were unsure whether Brandon’s brain had suffered any harm as a result of oxygen deprivation throughout the encounter.
Everyone was interested to see how Brandon was doing following the event. As the song’s introduction begins, mother and son exchange a unique moment before Brandon begins the song. Brandon’s clear, soft voice captivates the listener right away.
It’s incredibly moving to see the relationship between this mother and son as they sing this song that means so much to them. They complement one another well and touch people’s hearts all around. Even the judges found themselves in tears. By the end of their duet, Brandon was in tears, and the audience and all four judges gave them a standing ovation.
As the audience roared, host Lucy Kennedy emerged from behind the stage and proceeded down the steps to the judges’ table. Sharon and Brandon were bewildered and unsure of what was going on. Lucy walked up to the judges and said, “They’re mine!” as she pressed the Golden Buzzer.
The show’s presenter, Lucy, stated, “Thank you both for being my Golden Buzzers. You’re simply great, and I’m so delighted to have you both.” An emotional Denise Van Outen said, “I really believe you’re both fantastic together. Love shines through. You both have fantastic individual vocals, but combined, you are simply incredible.” You are truly exceptional in this competition.
Sharon and Brandon advanced to the live shows as a result of their heartfelt performances. Sharon summed it up best in the introduction interview: “We’re winners today, just by being here.”
