Designer Will Breaux made his fantasy home a reality by constructing it completely out of shipping containers. Will Breaux constructed his unique home on McGowen Street in Houston, a three-story, 2,500-square-foot home with a rooftop deck, out of 11 shipping containers.

Breaux had intended to build his own home since the early 2000s, but he had trouble finding someone who could design it. Finally, he resolved to take matters into his own hands. Breaux wrote on his blog, “I started examining projects under construction that I found appealing.” After firing a design team that did not fulfill his standards, he began designing the house himself in 2011.

Breaux liked the notion of employing shipping containers because of their strength, fire resistance, durability, and storm resilience. Despite lacking professional building skills, he schooled himself on container construction and created a 3D drawing of his ideal home. Breaux is now the delighted owner of an incredible and completely equipped container house, the result of many hours of hard work.
