Younger people might know Jere Burns best from his role as Wynn Duffy in the Western crime drama “Justified.” He did a great job as Duffy, a middleman in the Dixie Mafia who was cruel and cold-blooded.
But Burns has worked in the entertainment industry since 1970. If you watched sitcoms in the 1980s, you probably remember him as Dear John’s sleazy Kirk Morris.
The Massachusetts-born actor is still going strong today. In fact, he just said something that his fans have been wondering about for years.
Jere Burns was born in Cambridge, Massachusetts, in 1954. His first name is Jerry. Jere didn’t have a clear path to acting as a child, since his father worked in the clothing business and his mother stayed at home.

Instead, he did a lot of different sports and thought of himself as an athlete. Before he went to an elite high school in Cambridge, he didn’t care about acting or the performing arts at all.
There, he had the chance to do something that would change his life in a big way.
“There was this great little drama program in which we took part. And I had a great time.
I loved how much attention was paid to me, how people responded, how fun it was to be with the girls, and how the whole thing turned out.
But I was also an athlete, so there was some tension there,” Jere said when he was asked a question on Kevin Pollak’s Chat Show.
Jere went to college after he graduated from high school. He went to the University of Massachusetts Amherst and majored in English.
He didn’t have the courage to become an actor or work in the theater because he couldn’t see himself making a good living from it.
He also thought that he didn’t have any entertainment figures to look up to when he was young.

“If you’re from Boston, Massachusetts, you know that everyone there is a successful doctor, lawyer, businessman, or something else.
No one I knew had ever worked in the entertainment business.
But as Jere’s time in college came to an end, he realized that he couldn’t give up on his dream of becoming an actor.
By 1970, he had already been on The Psychiatrist, an NBC drama series, and had been in one of the episodes.
He spent his last years taking acting classes at the University of Massachusetts. He “muzzled” his way into a number of well-known roles.

Jere was lucky to be able to learn from two great actors in the near future. In 1982, he got the chance to stand in for John Malkovich and Gary Sinise.
Jere worked closely with Gary and John, and he watched them every night on stage when they were acting in Sam Shepard’s True West at Steppenwolf.
As you can probably guess, Jere couldn’t have asked for better teachers. He learned a lot from watching two actors who went on to become some of the most well-known in the country.
It took Jere six years to get the TV role that many people thought would be his big break. After playing the sleazy Kirk Morris in the comedy Dear John, Jere became well-known on the streets.
The man himself said that the show was “a great place to learn.”

His character was a cocky ladies’ man who thought he was the best. Nowadays, many people call Kirk Morris a “jerk” or a “creep.” But Jere liked playing him on the NBC show that ran from 1988 to 1992.
“Kirk is not a loser, a jerk, or annoying to me. “I treat Kirk like a weak person, even though everything he says and does is the opposite of that,” he said in a 1990 interview.
After Dear John was canceled in 1992, Jere went on to be in a lot of other TV shows and movies.
He played a counselor for the 12-step program that Jesse Pinkman went to on the critically acclaimed TV show Breaking Bad. A lot of people liked how he played the part on the show.
Younger people learned about Jere’s acting skills in part because of the character he played in this series, which is widely considered to be one of AMC’s most commercially successful shows ever.
Jere has been married three times in his life.
Jere married Melissa Keeler, a real estate broker, at the beginning of the 1980s as he tried to break into the business. Gillian, Jake, and Luke were the names of the couple’s three children.
His first marriage, on the other hand, was doomed to fail. Jere and Melissa split up in 1996.
In 1997, the actor and Kathleen Kinmont tied the knot. The actress, who was born in Los Angeles, has also worked as a writer and a director, but she is best known for her roles in scary movies.
Before she met Jere, Kathleen was married to the well-known actor Lorenzo Lamas. In 1999, they broke up without having any children.
In 2008, Jere fell in love again. He married an actress from Detroit, Michigan, named Leslie Cohen. She did a few things on TV, but she wasn’t as famous as her husband.
Even though they had one child together, they decided to split up in 2018.

Jere is said to enjoy extreme skiing, wakeboarding, and surfing, so this could be how he spends his money. In any case, Celebrity Net Worth says that the well-known actor’s acting career has given him a net worth of about $5 million.
Most people know Jere for his acting, but unlike many of the people he plays on screen, he seems to be a good person in general.
Jere seems to have a pretty quiet life when he’s not on screen. He sometimes does interviews, but for the most part, he stays out of the spotlight.
He has accounts on both Twitter and Facebook, but he hasn’t changed either of them since 2016.
Before 2022, he would often use his social media profiles to tell people about his new series, but he doesn’t do that anymore.
He’s keeping himself busy at work instead. He recently played “Arnold Baines” in an episode of NCIS: Los Angeles, as was said before.
We’ve always liked Jere Burns as an actor. I think he’s underrated, and he’s had some great roles over the years.
