In 2018, the Norwegian musical festival Allsang på Grensen witnessed a remarkable occasion when Irish pop sensation Ronan Keating joined forces with Swedish great Carola for a duet that has attracted over 21 million views on YouTube. The couple performed a magnificent version of “No Matter What,” a global success for Keating’s band Boyzone in 1998.
Ronan Keating, famed for his solo career success of over 20 million albums sold and an additional 25 million with Boyzone, performed with Carola, a dominating figure in Swedish music since the 1980s. The concert featured Keating’s soft singing and Carola’s tremendous voice, which amazed the crowd.
Carola’s soaring vocals complemented Keating’s passionate delivery, making their performance one of the night’s highlights. The crowd, which included a mother-daughter combo, rocked joyfully to the song’s rhythm, mesmerized by the musical chemistry on stage.
Carola’s influence on Scandinavian music is evident. Her debut album “Främling” is still the best-selling album in Sweden, exceeding even ABBA’s sales. In 1991, she won the Eurovision Song Contest with “Fångad av en stormvind” and became a music star. Her winning performance has over 350,000 YouTube views.
