Simon and Garfunkel stunned everyone with a rare reunion performance of ‘The Sound of Silence,’ which sent chills all over the internet

Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel first met back in 1953. They were only teens from Queens, New York, but they immediately learned a lot about music together.

After high school, each of them attempted a solo career with limited success. In the early 1960s, their reunion felt almost preordained. They joined with Columbia Records just as folk music was taking off.

Simon and Garfunkel achieved extraordinary success in 1965, when their song “The Sound of Silence” reached the top of the charts. The team eventually won 13 Grammy Awards! Their style was folk rock, but they were open to other influences such as Latin and gospel music.

Behind the scenes, Simon and Garfunkel experienced a tremendous deal of creative strain and parted ways in 1970. Despite their disagreements, they reunited on occasion, occasionally to raise funds for a beneficial cause. A half-million people attended their largest reunion event, which took place outdoors in New York’s Central Park!

“The Sound of Silence” is one of the folk duo’s biggest songs. Since its release in 1965, several other musicians have covered the song, but Simon and Garfunkel remain unrivaled.

At one of their few recent reunions, their performance of “The Sound of Silence” was nothing short of spectacular. The Madison Square Garden audience thought so, as they cheered repeatedly from start to finish.

This song definitely hit home. This song brings back so many memories of wonderful times, camping, family, and love. We thoroughly enjoyed listening to my Simon and Garfunkel 8-track back in the day. These men will be with me forever.
