Sofronio Vasquez is the new winner of The Voice Season 26.
Sofronio Vasquez earned his roses.
On Tuesday, December 10, fans voted Vasquez the winner of season 26 of The Voice, making Michael Bublé the winning coach in his first season.
After the announcement of the winner, Vasquez fell to his knees. Bublé, too, burst into tears.
“My Filipino brother, you are the hope of so many people… it has been such an unbelievable journey to be here with you,” Bublé said to Vasquez before announcing his victory.
He defeated fellow Bublé contender Shye, Team Reba’s Danny Joseph, Team Snoop’s Jeremy Beloate, and Team Gwen’s Sydney Sterlace.
Vasquez grew up in the Philippines and credits his father with instilling in him a passion for music. Following his father’s death in 2022, he relocated to the United States to pursue his musical career.
During his blind audition for Rose Royce’s “I’m Goin’ Down,” he received a four-chair turn and selected Bublé as his coach.
During the December 2 program, the Canadian singer offered Vasquez positive praise following his touching rendition of Elvis Presley’s “If I Can Dream.”
“I believe that people would understand your strength and the fact that you walk out here on a night like tonight, when it probably matters more than anything has in your entire life career-wise,” he said. “You step out here, seize the opportunity, and I’m filled with immense joy for you.”
Vasquez told PEOPLE on December 9 that whether he won or lost the finale, he planned to celebrate his time in the competition.
“We’re going to rejoice because The Voice had a fantastic run, and we truly felt loved by the production.” No one is superior… we’re all loved.” He stated, “It is in America’s hands for tomorrow.”
