Tom Hanks and his son Chet recreate the legendary Forrest Gump moment in his recent video

Tom Hanks and his son Chet have teamed together to recreate a famous sequence from Forrest Gump.

Chet, the 34-year-old offspring of stars Hanks and Rita Wilson, is no stranger to the spotlight, having previously dabbled in both acting and modeling.

Chet has also dabbled in music, becoming popular in 2021 with the song ‘White Boy Summer.’

Four years later, Chet has returned to music, this time with the country-rock band Something Out West.

The trio has recently released their latest song, ‘You Better Run,’ and Chet, Hanks’ son, opted to shoot the video with inspiration from his father’s work.

A Hanks family member can’t sing a song about running without referencing the 1994 Oscar-winning movie. It’s practically a given.

Chet plays his father’s iconic role as Forrest Gump in the video, which includes telling his life narrative to anybody who sits next to him on a bench, his time on a shrimping boat—which also serves as a venue for the rest of the band to perform—and, of course, multiple running sequences.

The parallels don’t stop there; a confused Hanks appears in the film, playing an ‘Uno reversal’ on the cliche of children being embarrassed by their parents’ activities.

We can only imagine how the conversation about getting Hanks to participate in the video went.

At first, Hanks finds it puzzling that his son would dress like Forrest Gump and sing about running while jogging. Eventually, Hanks opens up to the humorous music video, and the final scenes show him laughing and hugging his son.

Something Out West’s second song, ‘You Better Run,’ was released after their first hit, ‘Leaving Hollywood,’ earlier this month.

Chet and bandmate Drew Arthur form the group, having met earlier while living together in California.

Meanwhile, Forrest Gump became one of Hanks’ most well-known roles, with the actor winning the Academy Award for ‘Best Actor’ over John Travolta (Pulp Fiction) and Morgan Freeman (The Shawshank Redemption).

The film has also garnered him millions of dollars, owing to a smart provision the celebrity slipped into his contract.
