I had not expected them to move their legs in this manner!
When you enjoy what you do, you can do it for years without getting bored.
Dancing is one of the most popular activities in the world. There are several styles of dance, and each allows the dancer to express themselves via synchronized movement.
The National Shag Dance Championships, or NSDC, is one of the most well-known and longest-running shag dance events in the United States.
Did you know that the National SHAG Dance Championship began in 1984 in Myrtle Beach and will celebrate its 38th anniversary this year?

Unfortunately, owing to gathering and event constraints, the NSDC was unable to launch its tournament last year, in 2021, but they’re returning this year, and everyone is delighted!
Stages Video Productions shared a video of the 2022 NSDC Senior Division Champions, starring two of their outstanding candidates, Tobitha Stewart and Gene Pope, on YouTube.
Tobitha Stewart teamed up with Gene Pope, a well-known former Cary fire chief, to fight for the senior division crown in the famous NSDC, or National Shag Dance Championships, in Myrtle Beach.
This was really the NSDC’s 38th year in existence, and it has six sorts of divisions ranging from junior to senior to non-pro.

Each category is made up of outstanding and enthusiastic dancers.
Tobitha Stewart and Gene Pope, on the other hand, were not new to the company. Stewart had learned to dance from her parents since she was a child.
Stewart grew up dancing, remembering her parents’ influence, who adored square dancing.
Stewart first saw shag dancing on a trip to the beach during her senior year of high school, and she fell in love with it right away.
She didn’t stop dancing and kept improving, which led to her winning several honors, including her second national shag competition last weekend.
Stewart won for the first time in 2018.

Stewart and Pope selected Aretha Franklin’s ageless classic “Exactly Like You.”
On the first night, they donned identical red outfits, and their grins complemented their stunning features.
Their performance’s footwork is as elegant as ever, and their timing is flawless.
To be able to do a shag dance, you must truly collaborate. That is why, while it may appear simple, it demands discipline, a love of the craft, and enthusiasm.
The candidates in this competition must perform three times over the course of three days.
The judges would then tally the top score by combining the results from all three evenings.

“When a professional dancer stops learning something new, why are they still doing it?” Stewart explained this to the Salisbury Post. “It doesn’t matter your age or level; you can always learn something to take your dancing to the next level.”
If you’re in love with something, don’t let it go. Do it, and develop your ability and talent.
Check out their stunning performance here, and don’t forget to share!
